We Have a 2 Year Old Already!

We are so happy to be celebrating Ethan's second birthday today! I think that celebrating your child's birthday and planning something special for them is so much better than having a birthday of your own. Ethan and I plan on riding the train downtown to meet Tim at work for lunch today, and then his actual party will be on Saturday. Since our families won't be able to make it this year since we live a little farther away, we will be celebrating with my friend Meaghan and her son Josh. We may get to Skype in some of our family for presents and cake.

Ethan has been fascinated with cars of any kind for quite some time. He has a ton of the hot wheel sized cars around the house (they seem to have multiplied quickly since they are cheap. He plays with them all the time, and we typically have to carry some in the car with us when we go anywhere. Even though he likes all cars, he knows almost all of the Disney Cars characters as well. So, we are doing a partial Disney Cars theme for his party. I have put together a couple of centerpiece decorations, nothing too elaborate. His cake will not be decorated Disney style since I am making it. My cake decorating skills are not up for that challenge yet.

We are excited for what this next year holds for Ethan. He is growing up so much, and we are amazed at some of the things he has learned to do recently. He is becoming a master at puzzles, even ones that we have on Kindle apps. Even his teachers at church were impressed this last week. He LOVES reading books too. Currently his favorite is, "Are You My Mother?"

The pictures below were taken at the Children's Museum of Phoenix. This is definitely a place we will be visiting again. He had a lot of fun, and there are many more things that we weren't able to see when we went. In fact, we are considering a membership as it is an easy place for us to get to using the light rail, and it is close to Tim's work.
