A Relaxed, Simple Holiday

Our Thanksgiving was very simple this year. We had no family to spend the day with, and even though we had a couple of different invites from Tim's co-workers, we decided that we really just wanted a quiet day at home together. I think that choice was very good for us for many reasons. Ethan went from having a stomach bug for two weeks to running a fever on and  off for several days. That meant that everyone's sleep pattern had been off for a while. We made the decision to skip the whole Thanksgiving meal too (I really didn't want to spend my day in the kitchen), and we got a Costco take and bake pizza instead. We also did a little bit of "Black Friday" shopping, which never really amounts to much for us, but we still enjoy going to a couple of places. Ethan was a surprisingly good sport too. We were able to get 2 walks in on Thanksgiving day since the weather here has been sunny and between 60 and 70 degrees. Now, on to Christmas, which we are excited for. We both really enjoy the Christmas season, so we have decorated the house and done a lot of prep for family traditions as well. We are doing an advent calendar with Ethan and new Christmas books through the month of December during our bedtime reading time.

We also hit another major milestone this past weekend. Ethan is finally cutting his last tooth for at least several years. This is a huge blessing for us as teething has been a very hard process for Ethan. Not only does he cry off and on throughout the night when they are bothering him, but we see a lot of temperament issues as well. Soon, we will be facing some new challenges as we get closer and closer to potty training and getting rid of the pacifier now that his teeth are in (this was the only thing that really gave him any noticeable comfort while teething, so we have allowed him to continue with it).
